Time Report: See Every Time Entry Your Team Logged
In brief: Time Report is the workspace-wide ledger of every logged time entry, filterable, groupable, and exportable, but read-only: corrections happen in My Time.
Applies to: Owners and Admins only, under Performance, Time, the tab Performance opens on.
See also: My Time: Log Your Effort and Fix What You Missed is where entries are created and corrected, and Team Report: Assigned Work and Capacity by Person reads the same effort by person instead of by entry.
Time Report is the workspace-wide ledger of every logged time entry, visible to Owners and Admins only. It answers one question: what time was logged, by whom, on what, and when? It defaults to This Week, lists real entries rather than totals, and can be filtered, grouped, charted, and exported as a CSV that arrives by email. The report itself is read-only. If an entry needs correcting, that happens in My Time.
You'll find it under Performance → Time, and it's the tab Performance opens on by default.
What it's for
Time Report exists for the moment you need to look at the actual entries behind a number, before sending a summary to a client, before closing out a month, or just to understand what a team member logged and why. Every row is a real time entry, not a rollup, which is what makes it different from Team Report or the Job Performance tab. If you are wondering why a firm that prices by value should bother capturing entries at all, Why Time Tracking Is Essential Even When You Bill by Value makes that case.
What each row shows
- Task Name, the task the time was logged against
- Company, the client, or Internal if the work has no client context
- Description, the note the person wrote when they logged the time
- Team Member, full first and last name
- Service Type, the kind of work
- Time, whether the entry was logged with a running Timer or added as Manual time
- Duration, shown as decimal hours
Date range and defaults
Time Report opens on This Week, Sunday through Saturday, because time cleanup is most useful while entries are still fresh. Other options include Today, Yesterday, Last Week, This Month, Last Month, This Year, Last Year, All Dates, and Custom. The selected range always shows near the report title, so you're never guessing what period you're looking at.
Above the entries, a chart plots hours over the range. Short ranges render daily bars, longer ranges render weekly or monthly bars, so a full year doesn't turn into hundreds of unreadable slivers.
Summary cards
Four cards summarize the selected range: Client vs Internal, Service Type Mix, Team Member Mix, and Job Mix. They're a fast read on where effort went before you dig into individual rows.
Filters and grouping
Filters include Date Range, Company, Job, Service Types, Team Members, Work Context (All, Client, Internal), and Task Source (Job Tasks, Quick Tasks, or both). A separate Group By control (None, Service Types, Team Members, Jobs, or Clients) changes the entry list itself into grouped buckets, each with its own subtotal, rather than just re-sorting the same flat list.
Exporting
Export queues a CSV of the current filtered view. It doesn't download immediately: the export runs as a background job and the finished file arrives by email. Give it a minute, especially for a wide date range with a lot of entries.
What Time Report doesn't do
Worth being direct about this, because the report's name suggests more than it currently does. You can't edit an entry in place here. If a description has a typo, a duration is wrong, or an entry landed on the wrong task, that correction happens in My Time, not here. Owners and Admins can switch My Time to view and correct another team member's entries; the entry stays exactly where it belongs once fixed, and reappears correctly here the next time you load the report.
Who can see it
Time Report, along with Team Report and Jobs Report, is visible to Owners and Admins only. Leads and Members don't see a Performance section in the sidebar at all; Leads reach performance signals through the Jobs they lead, and everyone has My Performance under Me for their own work. Which role gets which of those views is spelled out in User Roles Explained: Owner, Admin, Lead, and Member.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I edit a time entry directly from Time Report?
No. Time Report is read-only. If an entry is wrong, correct it in My Time instead. Owners and Admins can switch My Time to another team member to fix their entries.
What's the default view when I open Performance?
Time Report, scoped to This Week. It's the tab Performance lands on by default, and This Week keeps you looking at entries while they're still easy to remember and fix.
Does the CSV export download right away?
No. Export queues a background job, and the finished CSV arrives by email. For a large date range this can take a minute or two.
Can a Lead see Time Report for their Jobs?
No. Time Report is Owner and Admin only. Leads see performance information through the Jobs they lead rather than through a workspace-level Time Report.
What does Group By actually change?
It reshapes the entry list into buckets, with a subtotal per bucket, instead of a single flat list. Group by Team Member to see everyone's entries clustered together, or by Job to see a client's work in one place.
What's the difference between Time Report and Team Report?
Time Report shows individual logged entries. Team Report shows assigned work performance by person, not entry-level notes. If you need to read what someone actually wrote when they logged an hour, that's Time Report. If you need to know whether a person's assigned work is on track, that's Team Report.
