My Time: Log Your Effort and Fix What You Missed
In brief: My Time is your record of logged effort: review what the timer captured, add entries you missed, correct durations, and see weekly and monthly totals.
Applies to: Everyone in the workspace, for their own entries. Owners and Admins can also correct a team member's.
See also: Which Tasks Can Accept Time (and Which Cannot) covers where an entry is allowed to land, and My Tasks: Every Task Assigned to You, in One List is where most timers get started.
My Time is your own record of logged effort, and you feed it from two places. The time bar sits under the purple top bar and follows you everywhere, so you log effort where the work actually happens, by timer or by typing a duration. My Time is where you go afterward to read what you logged, fix what's wrong, and see your totals by week and month.
You'll find the review page under Me → My Time. The time bar opens from the time icon in the top bar, or from any task row in My Tasks, including the rows described in Job Tasks: Assignees, Allocations, and Statuses.
The time bar
Pick the task first
Every entry in Net Net belongs to a real task. That's why the bar always starts with the task, not with the method. Not every task is eligible, and Which Tasks Can Accept Time (and Which Cannot) has the full rules.
Click Task, then search. The list shows your In Progress tasks by default, each with the Job and Deliverable it belongs to (or the client, for a Quick Task), plus its LOE and timeline meters so you can tell at a glance whether you're picking the right one.
Flip Show completed on when you need to add missed time to something you already finished. That switch is temporary. The next time you open the tracker, the list is back to In Progress only.
Timer
Press START and the timer runs. While it's going you'll see:
- the elapsed time
- four nudge buttons: -5, -1, +1, +5 minutes
- pause, resume, and stop
The nudges exist because nobody starts a timer at the exact right second. If you were already ten minutes into the work before you remembered, tap +5 twice and move on.
The timer keeps running across the whole app. A pill in the purple top bar and your browser tab both keep it visible, so it can't quietly run all afternoon without you noticing.
Stopping the timer doesn't save anything yet. The bar moves into a confirmation state showing the final duration, and you choose CONFIRM to save it or DISCARD to throw it away. You can also resume from there if you stopped by accident.
Manual Time
Switch to the Manual Time tab when you already know how long something took.
- Date defaults to today and can be changed with the picker.
- Quick durations let you tap 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, or 2 hours.
- Or type the duration directly.
- Toggle between decimal and clock display with the two small format buttons.
- SAVE writes the entry.
Notes and status
Both modes have a Notes field, and both let you update the task's status right from the bar. Neither is required. If confirming your time is also the moment you'd call the task done, you can do it in one place. If not, leave it alone.
The My Time page
My Time is not a second tracker. It doesn't start timers. It's the honest record of what you logged, built so mistakes are easy to find and easy to fix.
How it's organized
- This week at the top, broken into day cards, each with its own total, under a weekly total.
- The current month below that, with a monthly total.
- Previous Month at the bottom loads one more month of history each time you press it.
What each row shows
Task (with its Job and Deliverable, or the client), Company or Internal, Notes, Date, and Tracked. The Tracked column shows the duration with the source underneath it: Manual or Timer.
My Time deliberately doesn't show clock-in and clock-out points. You think in effort, so the screen shows effort.
Fixing an entry
Everything is edited in place. No modal, no separate edit screen.
- Task: click it to relink the entry to a different task.
- Date: click it and pick a new one.
- Tracked: click it and type the corrected duration.
- Notes: click to open a full editor underneath the row, so long notes stay readable. One is open at a time.
Some rows carry a LOCKED badge. Those belong to archived work and stay visible so history isn't hidden, but they can't be changed from here.
The ⋮ menu
Duplicate creates a fresh entry using the same task, notes, date, and duration as its starting point. It's the fastest way to log a repeating block of work. Because it creates new time, it follows the same eligibility rules as manual entry, so it won't work against a task or Job that can't take new time. Which Tasks Can Accept Time (and Which Cannot) spells out which combinations are allowed.
Delete removes the entry permanently. There's no undo and no archive behind it, so treat it as final.
Search and filters
Search across task names, Job names, company names, and notes. Then narrow with:
- Job
- Company
- Work Context: All, Client, or Internal
Filters apply to the history you've loaded for the person currently in view.
Seeing someone else's time
Owners and Admins get a User filter in the header and can switch the whole page to another team member to help them correct entries. Leads and Members see only their own. User Roles Explained: Owner, Admin, Lead, and Member covers the rest of what each role can reach.
It exists so someone can fix a teammate's forgotten Friday, not so anyone can watch them.
Why it works this way
Time is the input layer for everything else in Net Net. Your effort rolls into Deliverables, Deliverables into Jobs, Jobs into performance. If capturing time feels like a separate chore, it doesn't get done, and every number downstream quietly goes wrong.
So the bar is small, fast, and always within reach, and My Time is calm rather than accusing. Correcting a mistake should feel like tidying, not like filing an appeal.
For the wider case for logging as you go, Master Time Tracking with Easy to Use Timers and Manual Entry covers it on the Net Net blog.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I start a timer?
Open the time bar from the time icon in the purple top bar, or press the time action on any task row in My Tasks. Pick the task, then press START. Starting from a task row preselects the task for you.
Can I log time without running a timer?
Yes. Switch the time bar to the Manual Time tab, set the date, and enter the duration. There are quick buttons for 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, and 2 hours, or you can type any duration you like.
I forgot to start my timer. Can I fix the time?
Yes, in two ways. While the timer is running or paused, use the -5, -1, +1, and +5 minute nudge buttons to correct it. After the entry is saved, open Me → My Time and click the Tracked value on that row to type the right duration.
What do "Manual" and "Timer" mean on my entries?
They tell you how the entry was created. Timer means the clock ran, Manual means someone typed the duration. Both are edited the same way, by clicking the Tracked value and changing it.
Can I get a deleted time entry back?
No. Deleting a time entry in My Time is permanent. If an entry is wrong rather than unwanted, correct the duration, date, notes, or linked task instead of deleting it.
Can my Owner or Admin see and edit my time?
Yes. Owners and Admins can switch the User filter on My Time to view and correct another team member's entries. Leads and Members see only their own time. The purpose is support and cleanup, not oversight.
Why can't I add time to a task I already finished?
You can, but only as manual missed time dated on or before the day the task was completed. Completed tasks can't start a new timer. Flip "Show completed" on in the task picker to find the task, then use Manual Time.
