# Sales Opportunities, Not a CRM: A Q3 2026 Preview

||| Sales in Net Net is coming in Q3 2026. This article previews how it will work so you can plan for it, but the Sales area isn't in the app yet. When it ships, this note will come down.

**In brief:** Coming Q3 2026, Net Net's Sales area will track Opportunities, real work that might happen, rather than leads, contacts, or pipeline stages.

**Applies to:** Everyone in the workspace, once Sales ships in Q3 2026.

**See also:** Creating an Opportunity: How Value Will Work in Sales covers the form and the value fields, and Sales Clarity: How Linked Jobs Make a Deal Plannable covers how plannable a deal is.

**Sales is coming to Net Net in Q3 2026, and it will be built around Opportunities rather than leads. An Opportunity is a real piece of work that might happen. It is not a lead, not a contact, and not a conversation. Sales will hold that potential work in a shape you can actually plan around, then hand it to a Job when it becomes real. Net Net is not a CRM: Contacts holds the relationship, Sales will hold the potential work, and Jobs holds the truth once the work starts.**

When it ships, you'll find it under **Sales** in the left navigation.

# What an Opportunity actually is

An Opportunity answers one question: what might we be working on next?

That is narrower than it sounds. It is not "who have we spoken to lately" and it is not "everyone who might one day need us." An Opportunity means there is a reasonable chance this turns into work. Something real is on the table.

Every Opportunity will carry three things:

- **One client context.** A Company, optionally with a Person at that company, or a standalone Person on their own. An Opportunity never spans two companies. See [Companies, People, and Individuals: Contact Records](https://help.netnet.app/en-us/article/companies-people-and-individuals-contact-records-1piobx5/).
- **One owner.** It defaults to whoever created it, and it can be reassigned to any active member of your workspace. Every Opportunity has an owner, always.
- **Optional linked Jobs.** Zero, one, or several. This is the bridge into execution, and it is the single thing that moves an Opportunity from vague to plannable.

One Opportunity can become one Job, several Jobs, or no Job at all. That last outcome is not a gap in the record. Work you did not win is still work you learned something from, and Net Net will keep it.

# Why this is not a CRM

A CRM is built to manage a relationship over time: every touch, every call, every stage, every score. That is a real job, and it is not this one.

Net Net splits the two on purpose:

- **Contacts** holds the relationship. Companies, the people at them, and the history of who you work with. This is live today.
- **Sales** will hold the potential work. What might happen, what it is worth, and whether it is defined well enough to plan around.
- **Jobs** holds the work itself, once it is real. Also live today.

|| The practical test: if someone asks "what might we be working on next?", the answer will come from Sales. If someone asks "how is that work going?", the answer comes from the Job. Sales feeds Jobs. Jobs own the truth.

That split is why Sales stays small. It is a pre-execution surface, not a system you have to feed. If you want the wider argument for keeping estimating close to the work it turns into, we made it in [streamlining your sales and estimation process](https://hellonetnet.com/streamline-your-sales-and-estimation-process-for-max-profits/).

# Where Sales will sit in the path

Work in Net Net moves along one continuous line, and each step adds a little more structure and a little more commitment.

**My Lists → Opportunities → Jobs → Tasks → Time → Performance**

**[My Lists](https://help.netnet.app/en-us/article/my-lists-the-private-capture-space-only-you-can-see-sd3k9a/)** is fast, private, and carries no commitment at all. Nobody else can see it. Ideas live here before they are real.

**Opportunities** will be structured but still flexible, and visible to your team. This is where potential work becomes understandable to somebody other than you.

**[Jobs](https://help.netnet.app/en-us/article/projects-vs-retainers-choosing-the-right-job-type-4i23qm/)** are fully structured and operationally real. Deliverables, effort budgets, tasks, logged time, performance. This is where the work actually happens.

Sales is the bridge between an idea and something you can execute. Until it ships, that bridge is the step you are making by hand. The rest of the chain is laid out in [Getting Started With Net Net: How It All Fits Together](https://help.netnet.app/en-us/article/getting-started-with-net-net-how-it-all-fits-together-11oqhod/).

# The four Opportunity statuses

An Opportunity will always be in exactly one of four states. There are no pipeline stages behind them and no percentages to maintain.

- **Open.** The default working status. Live and in play.
- **On Hold.** Paused, but still visible. The client went quiet, the budget moved to next quarter, the decision maker is out. Nothing is lost and nothing is pretending to be active.
- **Won.** You got it.
- **Lost.** You did not. No value is required and there are no extra steps to complete.

That is the whole lifecycle. Net Net will not ask you to move an Opportunity through six named stages so a chart looks right somewhere, because that work costs you real minutes and tells you nothing you did not already know.

# What will happen when you win

Marking an Opportunity **Won** will stamp the moment it closed and write it to the Activity Feed. Then Net Net asks one question:

**"Activate linked Jobs?"**

Here is exactly what that prompt will do:

- Only **Pending** linked Jobs are eligible for activation. Those are the ones you have planned but not switched on yet.
- Linked Jobs that are already **Active** stay linked and are left alone. Nothing is re-activated.
- You can decline. The Opportunity stays Won and the Jobs stay exactly where they are.

||| Activating a Job is a one-way door, and it is what puts that Job on the clock. That is true today and it will still be true when Sales ships, so say yes to this prompt only when the plan is genuinely ready to run. See [Activating a Job: What Happens When the Plan Locks](https://help.netnet.app/en-us/article/activating-a-job-what-happens-when-the-plan-locks-15b8p4o/).

You will be able to mark an Opportunity Won with no linked Jobs at all. Net Net may warn you when you do, and the warning is worth reading, because an Opportunity with nothing linked to it has nothing downstream to pick the work up. Winning is the natural moment to build the Job if it does not exist yet.

Losing is deliberately quiet. Set the status, and that is the end of it.

# What Sales will leave out on purpose

Sales is narrow by design. It will not include:

- pipeline stages, kanban boards, or probability forecasting
- lead scoring
- automated sequences of any kind
- calls, emails, and meetings logged as separate records
- reminders or email alerts

If it does not help move work toward execution, it is not in here. The follow-up problem is solved a different way, and it is covered in [Opportunity Tasks: Follow-Ups That Run Themselves](https://help.netnet.app/en-us/article/opportunity-tasks-follow-ups-that-run-themselves-qc52g4/).

# Frequently Asked Questions

###### Is Sales available in Net Net today?

**No. Sales is coming in Q3 2026, after the Performance Dashboards.** There is no Sales area in the app yet, so nothing in this article can be clicked on right now. It is published early so you can plan around how Opportunities will work.

###### What is an Opportunity in Net Net?

**An Opportunity is a real piece of work that might happen.** It will be tied to one Company or Person, owned by one person on your team, and can be linked to one or more Jobs. It is not a lead, not a contact record, and not a log of conversations.

###### Is Net Net a CRM?

**No, and Sales is not being built to be one.** Contacts holds your companies, your people, and the relationship today. Sales will hold only the potential work that relationship might produce. There are no pipeline stages, no lead scores, and no automated sequences planned anywhere in Net Net.

###### What are the Opportunity statuses?

**Open, On Hold, Won, and Lost.** Open is the default. On Hold keeps a paused Opportunity visible without pretending it is active. Won and Lost close it. There is no stage system behind these four, and none of them require you to enter a probability.

###### What will happen when I mark an Opportunity as Won?

**Net Net will record the win and ask whether you want to activate any linked Jobs.** Only Pending Jobs are eligible. Jobs that are already Active stay linked and are left alone, and you will be able to decline the prompt entirely and still keep the Opportunity Won.

###### Where should an idea live before Sales ships?

**In My Lists, which is private to you and available today.** Nobody else in the workspace can see it, not even an Owner. When Sales arrives, the ones that turned into real potential work are the ones to move across.
