This article previews how the Capacity tab will work so you know what to expect when it arrives. Nothing described below is clickable in your workspace today. **In brief:** Coming August 2026, the Capacity tab will show how many of the team's known hours are already spoken for this month and who has room. **Applies to:** Owners and Admins; Monthly Capacity itself is set per person in Settings, Team. **See also:** Performance Dashboards: Five Tabs Coming August 2026 covers the full release, and Team Report: Assigned Work and Capacity by Person is where capacity per person can be read today. **Capacity will answer one question: can we take on more this month, and who has room? It is a monthly known-load view, not a scheduler and not a sales forecast. It toggles between This month and Next month, because Net Net stores monthly capacity rather than daily calendars. The headline is hours-led and honest: how many of the team's known hours are already spoken for. Just as importantly, it names what it cannot count.** Most capacity tools produce a clean percentage by quietly filling in the gaps. This one refuses to, and the refusal is the feature. Capacity is one of the five tabs previewed in [Performance Dashboards: Five Tabs Coming August 2026](https://help.netnet.app/en-us/article/performance-dashboards-five-tabs-coming-august-2026-1qrsbq9/). # This month or next month, nothing finer There will be a toggle at the top with exactly two positions: **This month** and **Next month**. There is no week view and no day view, and that is not an omission waiting to be fixed. The only capacity value Net Net stores is Monthly Capacity, set per person in Settings, Team. There is no daily target, no weekly target, and no schedule anywhere in the product. A week view would have to invent one, so Capacity works at the resolution the data actually supports. # The headline, and the per-person read The headline will be hours-led rather than percentage-led: how many of the team's known hours are already spoken for this month. Each person reads the same way: - Dana Kim: 46 of 40h spoken for, 6h over - Marc Pitre: 24 of 40h spoken for, 16h open Sorted tightest first, so the people with the least room are at the top where you will actually see them. || Known load is logged time plus the remaining committed work, spread evenly across the calendar days to its due date. Overruns never create negative capacity for anyone else, and one person being 6h over does not silently borrow room from a teammate. # What is not counted There will be a dedicated block on the screen listing the demand Capacity cannot honestly fold in. It exists so the headline number never pretends to be more complete than it is. **Capacity not set.** Anyone without a Monthly Capacity value will be shown on the list, but kept out of the measured percentage. Net Net will not assume forty hours for someone just to make the math work. **Unassigned demand.** Planned work with no assignee has hours but no person to attach them to. It is real load on the workspace that cannot be placed on anyone's line. **Unknown work.** Anything not yet planned into Deliverables with hours. **Retainer work not planned yet.** A retainer cycle that has not been planned out carries a commitment without a breakdown, so its hours cannot be distributed. | The fastest way to make Capacity more accurate is to set Monthly Capacity for everyone in Settings, Team, and to make sure planned tasks have assignees. Those two things move the largest share of hours out of the "not counted" block and onto the measured line. Utilization is a subject in its own right, and how you read a number like this matters as much as the number. Net Net's write-up on [effective utilization rates](https://hellonetnet.com/5-tips-for-effective-utilization-rates-in-your-workflow/) covers the wider version of that argument. # What Capacity will not do **No daily availability.** Net Net does not know that someone works Tuesdays, is off next Thursday, or takes Fridays for internal work. It will never draw a calendar it cannot fill honestly. **No stoplight colors.** Bars will be neutral Net Net blue rather than green, yellow, and red. Being at 90% of capacity is a fact about a month, not a health problem, and coloring it like drift would import an alarm that does not belong here. **No money.** No rates, no cost of capacity, no utilization framed as revenue. Capacity speaks in hours. **No sales forecast.** A won deal carries no hours until it becomes a planned Job with Deliverables and estimates. Capacity will not convert pipeline into forward demand, because the conversion would be a guess dressed up as a number. # Frequently Asked Questions ###### Are Performance Dashboards available today? **No. They are scheduled to arrive at the end of August 2026.** The Monthly Capacity field the Capacity tab will read already exists in Settings, Team, and it already drives the monthly progress bar in each person's [My Performance](https://help.netnet.app/en-us/article/my-performance-your-own-effort-never-a-scorecard-1lcr4jc/), so setting it now is worthwhile either way. ###### Why is there no weekly or daily capacity view? **Because Net Net stores only a monthly capacity figure per person.** There is no daily target, no weekly target, and no schedule in the product. A finer view would have to invent working days, which would misjudge part-time and contract teammates immediately. ###### What happens to someone who has no Monthly Capacity set? **They appear on the list but stay out of the measured percentage.** Net Net will not assume a default. Their line will show what is spoken for without pretending to know what they had available. ###### Why does Capacity list things it is not counting? **Because a capacity number that quietly omits demand is worse than no number.** Unassigned work, unplanned retainer cycles, and people without a capacity setting all represent real load. Naming them lets you judge how complete the headline actually is. ###### Will Capacity account for deals we expect to win? **No.** An opportunity carries no hours until it becomes a planned Job with Deliverables and estimates. Turning pipeline into forward capacity demand would require inventing those hours, so Capacity stays with committed, planned work. ###### Why aren't the bars color-coded like the drift meters? **Because being near capacity is not the same as drifting.** Drift colors mean attention level on work that is going off plan.
